Key Personnel

Robin Gillmore, Principal

After graduating with an MSc in sensory science, Robin began his career in 1990 as a sensory scientist with CSIRO. Robin then joined NFO (now TNS) in 2000 and Galileo Kaleidoscope as Executive Director in 2005. He co-founded The Paradigm Shift in 2011.

Robin is an expert in strategic quantitative research applications. In his career he has worked for most major FMCG companies as well as government, finance, media, NFP and retail clients.

Robin has particular expertise in comms tracking, choice modelling and segmentation studies. He is also an expert at tailoring research solutions to strategic problems from scratch.

Mary-Ellen Quirk, Principal

Mary-Ellen has extensive experience in strategic marketing and market research roles both agency and client-side.


Mary-Ellen has significant experience working in the Finance, FMCG, Entertainment and Telecommunications sectors in marketing, insights and strategy roles. She has worked for some of Australia’s largest organisations including: The Commonwealth Bank, Telstra, Roadshow Entertainment, Pillsbury (now General Mills) and Kraft Foods. She co-founded The Paradigm Shift in 2011.


Mary-Ellen is an expert in applying strategic thinking to quantitative research. She is able to bring her wealth of experience to the fore in ensuring that the research is both relevant and actionable.

Michael Hill, Account Director

Michael has over 12 years’ experience in quantitative research after studying statistics, commerce and marketing at Macquarie University. He worked for a number of years at BIS Shrapnel in economic forecasting, sizing building and appliance markets across Australia before moving to BDRC Jones Donald and then Jigsaw Research. 

Michael’s interest lies in quantitative research and the variety of options that can be used to get to the heart of a client’s issue. He has background in segmentation, choice modelling, econometrics, concept testing, comms testing and brand tracking. 

Throughout his career he has worked for some of Australia’s most recognised brands across FMCG, healthcare, banking, insurance and telecommunications. Michael’s goal is to find the clear message in the data that answers the key issue and is actionable within the business.
