Government & Social Research Network
The Government & Social Research Network (GSRN) was launched in 2011 in NSW and in Victoria in 2012, initially under the name Social Research Network (SRN). It was established in the ACT in 2013, having a strong base in the government sector. The network subsequently adopted its current name (GSRN) in all three states in September 2014, to better reflect the nature of its objectives and participants' backgrounds.
The GSRN provides opportunities for practitioners, commissioners and users of social research to network and develop their practice.
Core objectives are to develop a strong community of practice around government and social research, and to develop a space for an exchange of ideas and expertise between researchers and commissioners of research.
GSRN events are affordable, intellectually stimulating, and good fun.
The GSRN Forums are evening gatherings held once a quarter at an accessible CBD location. GSRN Forums start with a ‘guest lecture' from a well-respected speaker on a topic of interest and importance to social researchers and those who use social research as part of their work; this is followed by questions and discussion, and then networking drinks for those who wish to stay.
Please visit the Events section of our website to view any upcoming events arranged by the Government & Social Research Network.
Participation in the GSRN is open to anyone who values high-quality, effective government and social research. The GSRN aims to reach beyond AMSRS's traditional borders and welcomes members from across academia, government, the not-for-profit sector and private practice. GSRN members are encouraged to consider joining AMSRS, but this is not a requirement.
