Webinar: Fair Data - why it is important and how to get this ethical consumer mark

17th May 18

The mark, Fair Data, means that members of the public are able to easily identify between those organisations which collect, use and retain personal data properly and ethically, and those that may not.

Consumers gravitate towards organisations they trust. Recognised ethical marks help consumers make their choices separating the trustworthy brands who share their values. Such has been learned from other industries: Fairtrade and Investors in People (IIP) to the Carbon Trust and recycling symbols.

The Fair Data program was launched in Australia to the market and social research industry in March 2018 for all those organisations – public and private sector – which collect and use personal data. Fair Data will be launched to the public in August 2018. Fair Data is set to become the instantly recognisable standard for an organisation that can be trusted to do the right thing with all individuals’ data.

  • To be informed of the 10 Fair Data principles, which are based on rules from the AMSRS Code of Professional Behaviour
  • To consider whether your organisation has the appropriate processes and procedures in place to be compliant with the Fair Data principles.
  • To understand the need for an independent recognised audit to verify adherence to the principles.

Learning Outcomes:

By the conclusion of this webinar, you will be well-placed to determine whether your organisation – be it public or private sector –should apply and would qualify for the Fair Data mark.
