Face to face workshops: R Statistical Software & Data Analytics In Market Research

Background

Quantitative market research is dependent on the use of statistical software for many of the data analyses required. This course will teach you how to perform a wide range of market research analyses and modelling using the most widely used open source statistical software, namely R.

You will be provided with hands on instruction in a range of frequently used data analytics techniques within the market and social research profession. This includes statistical testing, fitting linear models to survey data, reducing data complexity with factor analysis and developing segments with clustering techniques

This course will enable you to detect problems in data and how to overcome these problems with the appropriate data analysis techniques. It will also enable you to apply the most commonly used machine learning models to research data and to produce control measures for data over time.


Objectives

This workshop will teach you how to:

1. Perform important statistical tests

2. Fit linear models using regression techniques

3. Reduce data complexity with factor analysis and extendible models e.g. structural equation models (SEMs)

4. Create segments with clustering models

5. Apply basket analysis using association rules

6. Build predictive analytic models.

7. Rectify various problems in predictive analytic models.

8. Apply the most frequently used machine learning models.

9. Determine control frames and time-to-failure of processes such as recommendation (NPS).


Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this one-day face to face workshop, participants will be able to perform many of the commonly used data analysis techniques applied in both market and social research.

You will be able to apply machine learning models to their research question, test the appropriateness of the model used and correct for any anomalies that may arise.

  • This course will use R and other proprietary software. Please ensure your device will accept this software loaded via a USB
  • Registrations open at 8 am to help and check the requisite software is installed and working and that internet access is operational. Please arrive no later than 8.30am to ensure that we are all ready to start promptly at 9am.

Dr Con Menictas

Con is a statistician (AStat), market researcher (QPMR) and six-sigma black belt (LSSBB) the focus of which is optimization. His training is in behavioural statistics earning his PhD under Professor Jordan Louviere, the global authority on choice modelling; and in data mining in the USA under Professor Dan Steinberg, the founder of Salford-Systems, regarded as the global benchmark in data science.

Con has lectured for many years in statistics, machine learning, market research, price modelling, strategy and marketing theory and practice. He has worked on both client and supplier side market research and quantitative consulting, as national director for quantitative solutions in research firms and corporates in FMCG, utilities, finance and airline industries.

Con is the principal at Strategic Precision, a data analytics and research consultancy, based in Sydney.


Registration Details: Face to face workshops 2018 is an intensive learning program for research professionals of all levels. It will be conducted at a Hotel in the Sydney CBD NSW. Registration fees include GST, tuition, program materials and catering during courses.

Closing Dates: The closing date for registrations is 23 November 2018.

Late registrations will be considered, depending on the availability of places.

Cancellation Policy: Due to the considerable administration and course material costs associated with this program, a fee equivalent to 10% of the registration fee will be incurred should confirmed bookings be cancelled prior to 23 November 2018.

Cancellations after 23 November 2018 will not be granted a refund. A substitute participant is welcome and in this instance a cancellation fee will not apply. All requests for cancellations or substitutions MUST be made in writing to the Society PRIOR TO THE EVENT and accompanied by written acknowledgement from AMSRS.
