Tim Bock - Numbers (NSW)

Segmenting to create value

Tim Bock, Managing Director of Numbers, who is the conference keynote speaker, is set to give his 2009 National Conference address on using segmentation to add value. It focuses on how to ensure that the research design and analysis will align with the organisation's strategic objectives.

Julie Beeck - Synovate (WA)

Water forever, for all: The water story 1999-2009

In 1999 Perth's household water usage was soaring, and together with a growing population and declining rainfall, the future was unsustainable. Julie will discuss how using research and extensive engagement, the Water Corporation has transformed its communications and planning approaches in water use and supply, and reversed the trend in household water use.

 

 

Duncan Rintoul - Urbis (NSW)

Now evaluate this: a framework for thinking critically about the "real value" of market and social research

Duncan Rintoul, an Associate Director at Urbis, will apply contemporary evaluation design approaches to the question of what is the ‘real' value of market research, introducing delegates to a range of practical evaluation tools that help provide clarity and structure.

 

Erica van Lieven - Direction First (NSW)

Semantic Web 3.0?

Erica van Lieven, Director of Direction First, will analyse how researchers use Web 2.0 to enhance a respondent's experience, discussing the transition from collecting data using traditional research platforms to collecting insights from social space.

 

Kathy O'Donoghue  - TNS Social Research (WA)
Melissa Francis - Dpt of Training & Workforce Development
Recognising and valuing Western Australian teachers.
Kathy O'Donoghue (TNS Social Research) and Melissa Francis (Department of Education WA) will present on the comprehensive research undertaken in 2009 among one of our most valuable resources - our teachers - to assist in addressing the ongoing issues of teacher attraction and retention.
Discussion on the advanced qualitative techniques utilised will include mood-induction tasks, "current versus desired-state" tasks, and an online qualitative component.  The end result was the Department's development of a comprehensive recognition framework for Western Australian teachers.
