Welcome to the Professional Development Program

The overall aim of the Professional Development program (PDP) is to improve the standard of market and social research by assisting in the development of research-related skills for both buyers and suppliers of research through professional training courses and information sessions that are generally of short duration (2 days or less).

New courses and seminars are developed in collaboration with a national committee of voluntary AMSRS members who have both academic and professional qualifications. The committee ensures that each offering meets industry needs and quality standards.

Interactive Learning Philosophy:
The number of places on each course is limited to ensure each participant has the opportunity to actively contribute to the learning environment.  Course presenters encourage questions and discussion.

Marketing Different Needs:
There are three levels of educational courses to suit your current level of knowledge and experience.

Introductory Courses

Provide an introduction to basic techniques and an overview of the roles that various methodologies play in achieving research objectives.  These courses are for people who are entering, or thinking of entering, or have recently entered the market and social research industry.

Intermediate Courses

These courses are designed for researchers who have a good understanding of the basics, and would like to gain greater technical knowledge of specific qualitative and quantitative techniques and applications.

Advanced Courses

For experienced researchers who wish to keep up with the latest developments and further develop their skills

Seminars

In addition to these courses, the PDP offers a variety of seminars addressing issues of research importance.

Our Promises:

Nation-wide Access - From July 2008 - If members wish to attend a course only offered in another state, a discount rate of *50% of the members rate is available. Note that travel and any accommodation costs are the responsibility of the member. This offer is limited to 5 members per course.

*For more information and conditions of this discount - please click here

Locally Relevant - Educational needs vary across the nation. Each course, especially introductory courses are delivered by local professionals with knowledge and experience of their home state.

Reference Material Access - As a participant, you will receive course notes and/or workbook containing course materials. We are currently developing reference reading lists for all courses together with a broader list covering market and social research to assist in your training and collection of QPMR points.

We Value Your Feedback - All course participants are asked to complete an online course evaluation questionnaire. The results are used by the professional development committee to ensure courses are relevant and of high quality.

Support QPMR - Participation in intermediate and advanced courses including seminars will contribute to maintaining your QPMR status. Relevant courses and seminars are detailed in the website which provides QPMR points allocation.
