AMSRS Bookshop offers discount on choice modelling books

The AMSRS Bookshop is offering a special deal on two choice modelling titles.

Discrete Choice Methods with Simulation
by Kenneth E. Train (published by University of California, Berkeley and NERA Inc.).

This book describes the new generation of discrete choice methods, focusing on the many advances that are made possible by simulation. Researchers can use these statistical methods to examine the choices that consumers, households, firms, and other agents make. Each of the major models is covered: logit, generalized extreme value, or GEV (including nested and cross-nested logits), probit, and mixed logit, plus a variety of specifications that build on these basics. The procedures are applicable in many fields, including energy, transportation, environmental studies, health, labour, and marketing. The recommended retail for the paperback is $79.95 but the special AMSRS member price is $67.96 plus postage and handling.  (Hardback normally $215.00; special AMSRS member price $182.75 + p&p).

Stated Choice Methods: Analysis and Applications
by Jordan J. Louviere (UTS), David A. Hensher (University of Sydney), Joffre D. Swait (University of Florida) and Wiktor Adamowicz

This guide to analysing consumer choice behaviour concentrates on stated preference (SP) methods - placing decision makers in controlled experiments that yield hypothetical choices - rather than revealed preferences (RP) - actual choices in the market. The authors show how SP methods can be implemented, from experimental design to econometric modelling of choice, and combined with RP data to get the best from each type. The book also presents an update of econometric approaches to choice modelling. Central to welfare economics, econometrics, decision sciences, marketing, transport planning, environmental evaluation, geography, statistics.
